The Claiborne County school system provides a variety
of educational opportunities at every level. There are two new high schools,
opened in 2004, that have state of the art facilities and advanced courses
of study. The Alpha School, a partnership of the Claiborne Board of
Education and the Claiborne Industrial Development Board, is a sterling
example of Pre-Kindergarten education, and has been used as a demonstration
program for state-wide Pre-K initiatives. The Claiborne Adult Learning
Center provides lifelong learning experiences for adults of all ages, and
H.Y. Livesay Middle School was selected as a Core Knowledge School, an honor
awarded to very few schools.
