After
committing over 31 years of her life to a career at this facility, Lucy
Greer is retiring.
It’s not very
often you find an employee like Lucy Greer. She attended the practical
nursing program given at this facility and graduated in 1974. In February
1975, she became a full time employee and the best part is, she has been
here ever since. Her first position here was in the OB department
delivering babies. From there, she transferred to the CCU. In 1989, Lucy
started working in Utilization Review.
As far as her
personal life, Lucy was married to Oscar Greer for 44 years. She has two
wonderful sons, Larry and David and five grandchildren, Lindsay, Ryan,
Jordan, Hannah, and Mason. Lucy has been the Sunday school superintendent
and a Sunday school teacher at Lone Mountain Baptist Church for 51 years.
Lucy enjoys reading and loves to work on crossword puzzles. She also enjoys
watching basketball games, fishing, golfing, and spending time with her
family.
After
retiring, Lucy hopes to spend time doing all the things she loves. She also
noted that she hopes to do more for the Lord. There is no doubt that Lucy
will be missed dearly and that no one can ever take her place. One of the
many things that will be missed is her outgoing personality, smile, and her
overall presence.
Lucy states,
“I have always enjoyed nursing and the desire to care for people has always
been important to me. I have enjoyed everyday I have come to this hospital
to work. I have made many friends in the years I have been employed here
and this facility is like a part of my family. May God bless and keep
Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home.”
All the staff
and employees of Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home wish Lucy the
best in her future endeavors and hope it will be all she has envisioned
