New Physicians and Services Available
At Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home
February 29, 2008
Claiborne
County Hospital and Nursing Home continues to move forward as new physicians
join the medical staff, and a new cardiac rehabilitation unit further
extends the services provided to the residents of the Tri-State area. The
completion of the new, 30,000 square foot Medical Office Building, located
adjacent to the existing hospital, is “icing on the cake” for the
county-owned healthcare facility, and demonstrates the commitment of
Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home to continually strive for
excellence in healthcare to meet the needs of our citizens.
Dr.
Scott Matson, a board eligible gynecologist, is currently seeing patients at
a temporary location at the Tom Ball Medical Building at 411 Blue top Road
in Tazewell, but will have permanent space in the hospital’s Medical Office
Building within a few months. Dr. Matson is a 1998 graduate of the
University of Osteopathic Medicine & Health Sciences in Des Moines, IA, and
can assist patients with a variety of procedures including urinary
incontinence, abnormal uterine bleeding, or other general gynecologic
surgery. If you would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Matson, the
number is (423) 626-2410.
Another
familiar face to local residents is Dr. Rhonda Sivley, Claiborne County
Hospital’s new hospitalist. For those readers not familiar with hospitalist
programs, a hospitalist is a hospital-based physician who provides medical
care to patients who require a hospital stay for acute or chronic medical
conditions. The hospitalist coordinates the patient’s care while they are in
the hospital, and works with the patient’s primary care provider to ensure
continuity of care upon their return home. Dr. Sivley is board certified in
Internal Medicine, and is a 1999 graduate of the University of Alabama
School of Medicine.
A new
outpatient service that just began accepting patients is the new Cardiac
Rehabilitation Unit at Claiborne County Hospital. This new service opened on
February 20th, and is located inside the hospital in the west end
of the main building. The CCH cardiac rehabilitation program allows patients
who have had heart attacks or other coronary problems and need to perform an
exercise program under medical supervision to participate in their required
rehab sessions locally, instead of driving to Knoxville or Morristown
several times per week. To schedule an appointment or receive further
information about this program, please call (423) 526-2191.
The Medical
Office Building will open in March, and will house physician’s offices, the
CCH out-patient specialty clinic, and the rehabilitation department. This
building is part of Claiborne County Hospital’s long range planning to
provide a greater variety of medical care to the citizens of the Tri-State
region. The building is located at 1610 Tazewell Road, Tazewell, TN, and a
grand opening will be held in the near future. These are just some of the
recent service additions to Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home, and
there are other updates and new programs planned for 2008. If you have any
questions about these services, contact our administrative offices at
(423)526-2201.
