A Revenue Cycle Review was presented to the Claiborne
County Hospital and Nursing Home Board at the March meeting. Hospital
controller, Jessica Justice presented the review just after the hospital's
financial report. Justice reported the findings of the review and informed
the board of some changes that were going to be made in different areas in
the hospital in hopes of improving the hospital's finances.
In her financial report, Justice reported the hospital
and nursing home suffered a combined net loss for Feb. of $130,725 compared
to a budgeted net income of $96,225. The reasoning for the continued loss
appears to be a dramatic increase in the amount of health insurance claims
from employees. As a result all entities show a substantial increase in the
insurance expense for the month.
Justice reported the Hospital Inpatient Revenue for the
month was significantly less than budget, but Nursing Home Revenues were
$23,153 more than budget.
In other business, Dr. Richard Clark said he did not have
a report form the medical staff because they are only meeting every other
month, and did not meet this month.
The board discussed the hospital's inpatient rehab
program. The board decided to grant permission to advertise for bids for the
project.
Dan Colon was not present during the meeting due to his
recent resignation as hospital administrator.
After hearing reports from Mayor Joe Duncan and the Baker
Cancer Center the board went into executive session to discuss legal
matters. The executive session was for discussion only and after going
back into regular session the meeting was adjouned.
