Changes at Claiborne County Hospital ER to Improve Service
February 27, 2008
Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home is striving to make improvement in services provided to their patients, and one area of focus is the Emergency Department. They are currently working on ways to decrease wait times and increase customer satisfaction. As part of this effort, CCH staff members are making follow-up phone calls to those patients who come to the ER and then leave prior to seeing a physician. The comments given by the patients are then reviewed with the ER staff and hospital administration. During this review plans and processes for improvement are developed.
A part of this improvement process is a change in the visitor policy. Effective March 15th, 2008, only one visitor per patient will be allowed in the Emergency Room treatment area. Other persons wishing to see the patient will need to wait in the ER waiting room, where patient status updates will be provided. This change will allow for less crowding in the treatment rooms, which will help provide quicker patient treatment, reduce the risk of spreading infection and maintain patient confidentiality.
Also effective March 15th is the need for all patients to provide some form of identification upon registering at the Emergency Room. This can be one photo ID (such as a driver’s license) or two forms of non-photo identification, with one of those being issued by a state or federal agency (such as a Social Security card). Some other non-pictured identification that will be acceptable is: a utility bill, voter registration card, insurance cards, or other bills with your name and address on them. The purpose of this requirement is to prevent unauthorized access to your health care benefits.
Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home wishes to continually improve the services offered to the residents of Claiborne County and the Tri-state area, and hopes that patients and visitors will assist them by complying with these new processes. If you have any questions about these requirements, please call (423)526-2335. |
