Not surprisingly, historical activities are an important part of the cultural life of Claiborne County. With the Cumberland Gap National Historic Park less than 20 minutes away, the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum, and many scheduled Civil War re-enactments during the year, history is an important part of life here.

 

Outdoor activities are also a major focus here, with Norris Lake one of the best lakes for bass fishing in the South, and the Cumberland Gap National Historic Park providing an abundance of hiking and camping opportunities. Also, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located a short drive away in Sevier County, expands the available selection of outdoor activities.  If golf is your sport of interest, Woodlake Golf Course is located in Tazewell, and was called “one of America’s best new courses” by Golf Digest in 2000.  The many other golf courses within an hour’s drive of Claiborne County ensure that you always have a course that challenges your golfing skills.
