Physician Speaks at Hospital “Lunch and Learn”

Dr. Phillip W. Jones, M.D., specialist with the Knoxville-based Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Center, was the featured speaker for Claiborne County Hospital’s “Lunch and Learn” community outreach program on November 9, 2007. Dr. Jones’ presentation was very interesting and a relevant subject for many members of the audience, who were comprised of community members and CCH staff. He talked about the differences in allergies and colds, gave the symptoms of many common allergies, and also discussed the various treatments available.

Dr. Jones is located in the Kingsport office of the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Center, one of the country’s largest and most established allergy practices.   He received his medical degree and completed his residency at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed a fellowship in Allergy, Immunology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville.  Dr. Jones is board certified in Internal Medicine, Allergy and Immunology, and Pulmonary Medicine.

Many area residents are familiar with the founder of the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Center, Dr. Robert M. Overholt, known to many people as the familiar “Dr. Bob” often seen on Knoxville area television channels. This group, in practice for 36 years, has several locations in the Greater Knoxville area, along with 11 additional offices in East Tennessee and Corbin, KY.

“Lunch and Learn” is one of the services provided to the community by Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home. For more information on the “Lunch and Learn” program, contact Linda Majors, CCH Education Coordinator, at 526-2250.
