"Protect Our Patients"
Health care employees aren't the only ones who
play a major role in infection prevention. Soon visitors to Claiborne County
Hospital will be asked to do their part to help prevent the spread of
infection. Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home has joined a
nationwide initiative designed to inform visitors about their role in
infection prevention.
Every year thousands of visitors enter the doors
of the hospital and nursing home to visit patients or accompany them to
receive emergency or outpatient services. Not all are aware of the steps
they should take to prevent the spread of infection. They will have an
opportunity through the new hospital initiative "Protect Our Patients" (POP)
Visitor Information Program, to provide them with this critical information.
On Monday, Oct. 16, they started placing
pamphlets for visitors to review infection prevention guidelines throughout
the hospital. These pamphlets have helpful prevention suggestions that can
be used while visiting at the hospital and at home after patients are
discharged Following are the basic WE CARE guidelines they will ask visitors
to follow:
·
Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer
before entering and when leaving the patient's room.
·
Expect our staff to clean their hands
before patient care. It's okay to remind them if they forget.
·
Cover your sneeze or cough with a tissue
or your upper ann. Do not visit if you are sick.
·
Avoid touching anything used to care for
the patient.
·
Read and follow any instructions posted
outside the patient's room.
·
Eliminate germs when the patient goes
home by using disinfectants, such as sprays and wipes, to clean surfaces
often.
Thank you for your support of this critically
important program.
